Challenge piece lesson 1.

Challenge piece for Lesson 1.

Sari silk strips and silk fibres embellished onto felt. Embellished felt flowers and beading added using hand stitching. Metallic thread machined onto background also.

Silk strips and silk fibres embellished onto felt . One piece has been overlayed with organza as I didn't have any chiffon then embellished again

Flower Shapes

Flower shapes embellished from front and back and outlined from behind.

Yarns and silk fibres

Variety of yarns and silk fibres embellished onto black felt. Views from front and back and also embellishing from back to front .

For Christmas I received a Janome embellishing machine and am starting an online course and started lesson one of Embellish, Stitch and Enrich with Dale Rollinson at Thread Studio
So far have broken a few needles and thinking I should purchase a fully interchangable 5 needle part for the machine. Loving the effects of using silks on felt and looking forward to lots more experimentation and new techniques.

I have used angelina fibres, metallic threads, lace , beads and other embellishments . Inspired by lingeree seen in a shop window for Valentines day. Lots of black and red lace.
